Second Wave of Mutek Artists Announced Includes Plastikman Live

Mutek have announced a second round of artists for the Montreal-based festival. Plastikman, which is Richie Hawtin‘s live act moniker, has played once before at Mutek, back in 2004.

They also released a schedule of the events:

DAY 1: WEDNESDAY JUNE 1

  • Ninja Tune royalty AMON TOBIN offers the world premiere of ISAM, his first-ever live performance featuring an enormous and ultra-secretive stage set-up that promises otherworldly experiences.
  • Finland’s legendary MIKA VAINIO, former-half of pioneering industrial minimalists Pan Sonic, makes his MUTEK debut with an all-new live audio-visual concert.
  • Also performing on Wednesday: BADAWI, EMPTYSET, GOLD PANDA, PURFORM
  • DAY 2: THURSDAY JUNE 2

  • Mexican ambient-techno producer MURCOF delivers his supple blend of cutting-edge rhythms and Arvo Pärt string textures to a special collaboration with ANTIVJ. The French visual collective will be working with three massive screens to create a three-dimensional cosmos.
  • A night of bass in all its wide-ranging permutations! MODESELEKTOR bring their hotly anticipated Modeselektion night to the Metropolis. The “no holds barred” German duo will be DJing alongside their selected guests, including mysterious industrial-dubstep duo ANSTAM, New York garage revivalist FALTYDL, Montreal bass producer JACQUES GREENE, and high-end electro maven SIRIUSMO.
  • Also performing on Thurdsay: ARP, ARTHUR OSKAN, BILLY DALESSANDRO, GROJ, ORGAN MOOD
  • DAY 3: FRIDAY JUNE 3

  • PLASTIKMAN, the most heralded figure in Canadian electronic music history, will finally return to the country of his origin, to present the music and persona that first catapulted him into the spotlight as one of the most influential figures in techno.
  • Detroit dub-techno duo DEEPCHORD arrives for a rare Montreal appearance to present their revered ECHOSPACE persona. Industrial-strength techno veteran Adam X will be on hand to take us through his TRAVERSABLE WORMHOLE.
  • Also performing on Friday: JIRKU, KOMODO, SCULPTURE, SKINNYBONES, TRISTAN PERICH, WOMEN WITH KITCHEN APPLIANCES, XI
  • DAY 4: SATURDAY JUNE 4

  • Veteran producer TERRY LEE BROWN JR. tackles Chicago house flavors from a decidedly Teutonic perspective with guests Border Community, Ninja Tune recording artist LUKE ,and the young British producer FLOATING POINTS at this year’s MUTEK//PIKNIC event.
  • This year, we’ve got two MUTEK//PIKNIC events in store. One with a full confirmed line-up and a second that’ll be a complete surprise! The confirmed event will happen on Saturday, June 4th. If it rains that day, the event will be moved to Sunday, June 5th, and replace the surprise event.
  • UK jazzy house fusionists ROCKETNUMBERNINE lock into an onstage improvisational groove with FOUR TET for an altogether different shade of North American premiere.
  • Canadian dub-techno producer DEADBEAT and German video artist LILLEVAN offer a North American premiere of their new collaboration.
  • Also performing on Saturday: BABE RAINBOW, CALAMALKA, CHANCHA VIA CIRCUITO, DAEGA SOUND SYSTEM, ELEKTRO GUZZI, THE GULF STREAM, JAMES HOLDEN, MAX ULIS, MICHAEL RED, MONOLITHIUM, POLE, SOL DEL RIO, STEPHEN BEAUPRÉ
  • DAY 5: SUNDAY JUNE 5

  • Akufen’s Marc Leclair shows up for the world premiere of a new live show for his HORROR INC. alias.
  • Japan’s house-music specialist RADIQ arrives at MUTEK for a North American debut.
  • Also performing on Sunday: DANUEL TATE, WAREIKA
  • The sale of early bird tickets has been extended to April 20th.
