festivalZOO Spotlight: Morgan Page

Share

Morgan Page really needs no introduction but for those living under a rock the last few years he is an internationally known, grammy nominated DJ and producer based in Los Angeles, California. Morgan works tirelessly in the studio as he has over 110 remixes to his name. One of his breakout hits came in 2008 with his release of “The Longest Road.” Morgan’s last album “Believe” was released in early 2010. “Fight for you” and “I’ve had Friends” were the two big singles from the album. Recently, Morgan has been busy in the studio so we expect big things at the end of the summer…we were able to catch up with him for a quick interview before his summer tour gets into full swing.

How were you initially introduced into the house music scene?

Through radio, and then eventually weekly club events where I grew up. I caught the bug early.

Who were your biggest influences and does anyone really inspire you even today?

Guys like Deadmau5 and Daft Punk are big influences for sure.. I find that even these really young guys like Avicii and Afrojack are very inspiring.

I try to learn from everyone.

What do you feel is your greatest achievement in your musical career?

Getting my first real Grammy nomination.

Do you prefer to spin at festivals or clubs and do your sets (track selection) differ between these two very different types of venues?

I love both. They are very different beasts. I do play a little more epic and hard at festivals. You only have an hour to make an impression, so you have to go in guns blazing.

You are going to be on a summer tour, is there any city that you’re looking forward to playing the most, possibly a city you haven’t been to before?

I personally love playing Red Rocks in Colorado. It’s a beautiful rock amphitheater built into a mountain.

Do you have any projects coming up that you can we should know about?

I did a remix for Daft Punk that is coming out separate from the album, there’s a mix for Underworld, and I have a full length album coming in October.. the new single “In The Air” will drop in about a month or so.

If you had to a pick a party animal that represents you, what party animal would you be and why?

Maybe a Wolf? That’s my middle name.

- M
