As always, we at FestivalZOO would like to make some recommendations in terms of which DJs you should be sure and catch. For Electric Daisy Carnival 2011 - Las Vegas, which has an enormous lineup, we are going to make it simple and break it down by genre.
Here are our recommendations for Drum & Bass DJs:
Friday
Friday features some of the best drum and bass talent of the past 5 years. Dieselboy will bring some fast, hard, and heavy sounds, followed by Marky‘s liquid jungle and melodic drum and bass. The once legendary TC brings up the sun with the closing set. His jump up sound defined ’06 and ’07 for drum and bass, and his remixes have been featured heavily since.
Saturday
The DnB acts to see today are Evol Intent, High Contrast, Andy C, and DJ Hype.
Evol Intent plays early on in the night, and plays a darker and heavier side of Dnb. Hype and Andy C are the god fathers of drum and bass. They play a good range of everything, from liquid jungle, to jump up, to the good raw two-by-four bass infected drum sound. High Contrast… High Contrast has been a favorite of mine since 2006′s Basement Track. His melodic, “future jungle” sound is very accessible and enjoyable. Unfortunately, his set at Coachella was not nearly as enjoyable as his albums and own tracks, but I’d personally recommend him over Bassnectar, who shares a timeslot.
Sunday
There’s not much great DnB tonight. Loadstar‘s got a great sound, but his style is quite different than other DnB acts you’ll see at EDC. Thankfully, he’s fairly melodic and vocal. If you’ve still got energy by 5am, Nu:Tone in the bassPod is the place to be. Nu:Tone is currently signed to Hospital Records with the likes of High Contrast and others, and has been pounding out huge track after huge track, including the recent Shine In with vocalist Natalie Williams.
