We Love…Introducing the Live Acts Plus Full September Programme Announced

Share

Following another storming opening of We Love… for 2011 featuring the seminal Carl Craig and 20 years of Planet E, Zabiela, Greg Wilson, Heidi, Paul Woolford, a special live showcase from resident Mat Playford and many more, Space move further into the future summer days and scorching nights with much more bright talent in the wings.

Carl Craig

One aspect that makes Space one of the most highly valued and largely loved venues out there, is its attention to detail when delivering immaculate production. Supported by the very best in audio-visual technology, it offers the ultimate stage for the best live shows in electronic music. With the We Love… doors now well and truly open for summer, its time to cast our eyes and ears over the live acts coming up throughout the season.

On the 26th June in the Discoteca We Love…welcome the illustrious Caribou, whose highly infectious ‘Swim’ album pretty much defined last year’s summer with the standout ‘Sun’ being played at the turn of every perfect sunshine moment. With 10 years of releasing music and 5 albums under his belt, his academic mathematical background comes out to play in his carefully calculated and perfectly executed live sets. He skillfully demonstrates the perfect fusion of organic and electronic sounds, whilst remaining beat-driven and experimental to inspire his audience.

Having already demonstrated he can single handedly grab the hearts and minds of the Discotecha at the We Love… opening party, Carl Craig returns towards the end of the season on 18th September, for another dose of his Detroit techno magic back in the same room. Joining him will be Francesco Tristano who made his name in the same spot last year after joining Craig on stage at Space with his grand piano. The duo eluded the borders between musical genres with Francesco fiercely tinkering away on the ivories whilst Craig controlled Ableton with the help of his ipad, giving a performance that has already gone down in Space’s history and the stuff of legend.

Making his first of 4 appearances this summer, wunderkind Tensnake slithers into the Space Terraza bringing his blissfully exultant sound with him on the 19th June. Causing quite a stir last summer with

Tensnake

the rapture of the memorable catchy ‘Coma Cat’, his big synthy bass-lines and old-school piano, have brought pleasure to many with his disco-infused house sets. He returns for four more encores later this summer.

Lindstrom makes a rare live performance in the Space Terraza on the 17th July. Perhaps best known for his downbeat disco lament ‘I Feel Space’ back in 2005, Lindstom has practically invented the new wave of cosmic disco which today fills so many clubs and dance-floors. His music is as absorbing as is it is exhilarating, often sounding like transmissions from another age. Now living in Oslo and running his Feedelity label, Lindstrom has masterfully remixed everyone from the Chemical Brothers to LCD Soundsystem, and The Doves to Franz Ferdinand, marking himself as something of a remix master.

As part of the Innervisions showcase on the 24th July in the Space Terraza, We Love…welcomes the mysterious German duo Ame. Despite having one of the decades biggest house tunes with the illustrious ‘Rej’, they have continued to follow their experimental instincts into the fathoms of deep techno and house. On the 7th August Spektre blast onto the Discotecastage and prove why they have become one of the most consistent and solid production outfits in recent memory. Their music and performances consist of solid techno that really recounts the rave in sound and energy, which is unsurpassed in their live show.

On the 26th June Pier Bucci plays live on the Space Terraza. Along with masterminds Villalobos and Luciano, Bucci has added to Chile’s increasing notoriety for producing gifted electronic artists as well as

Pier Bucci

providing a breeding ground for some of house and techno’s most passionate, inventive and exciting music. His productions have found their way onto some of Europe’s finest imprints, including Crosstown Rebels, Wagon Repair and Mobilee. On the night you can expect a blend of lush, colorful melodies, wrapped inside elegant techno, all tied together with a Latin twist. Joining on the same night is New York duo Blondes. Not yet on everyone’s radar, Blondes are drawing in everyone that crosses their path with powerful bass synths puncturing intergalactic house rhythms all cut through with haunting shaman chants.

We Love…at Space is the perfect platform for these world-class artists to demonstrate their live showcases. Taking place in Space’s wondrous dance music haven, it’s what history’s made of.
