A diverse dance festival under the smoke of Amsterdam on the most beautiful terrain imaginable. Recreational area Velsen Valley (a new name honoring the festival for what was then known as Spaarnwoude) feels un-Dutch with its numerous slopes and valleys. A fantastic theme park for adults that can feel like a kid again during the first week of August.

A green spot in the heart of North Holland which every year is the host for a diverse dance festival in the open air. A musical celebration where oncee a year the national and international club- and DJ scene comes together. Both grounded and surrealistic, mainstream and alternative, but also a short festival vacation that feels like coming home.

Dance Valley is so much more than the sum of varying dance styles. It is a magical musical playground in an enchanting landscape, the combination of electronic music and provocative entertainment that will wash away your daily troubles and worries. A day of Dance Valley means twelve hours of enjoyment in an environment that is synonymous with freedom. The surrealistic Velsen Valley recreational area will stimulate all senses and let everyone do and be what they want.

Four musical parts
On 6 August 2011 the 17th edition of Dance Valley will take place in recreational area Velsen Valley. This year Dance Valley consists of four musical parts which each present a large number of musical areas. These four musical parts are

1. ‘The Holy Ground’ the beating heart of the festival. In the largest valley on the terrain, the MAINSTAGE will take its place. The place where different styles of dance music take center stage. The Holy Ground is the combining element of the festival, featuring a cocktail of house, techno, progressive and trance. In the FRESH VERMAAK VILLAGE you’ll find entertainment in all shapes and sizes.

2. ‘The Solid Ground’ the vast plains near the entrance features are filled the largest numbers of area’s of all. The Solid Ground is a densely populated area where techno and house set the tone, branching out into tech-house, progressive and hard-techno.

3. ‘The Higher Ground’ on the highest fields you’ll find The Higher Ground. Here the harder styles of dance take control, with hard-style, hard-dance and hard-trance in charge. Next to the trusted HQ area - hosted by Amsterdam’s longest running club-night - there will be a big area reserved for the hard-style sound.

4. ‘The Secret Ground’ the second valley of Dance Valley lies hidden in a fairy tale like landscape of mountains and plants. Here you can let yourself be swept away at the outdoor stage where trance in all its forms controls the atmosphere.

More than music
Dance Valley is characterized by a wide musical program with more than 200 (inter)national artists, ranging from superstar DJ’s to up-and-coming hotshots. This line-up will be completed by more than 100 high-profile performers, dancers and actors who will surprise and entertain the audience anywhere and everywhere.

Besides a hunger for new and innovative music, a hunger for drink and food will be quenched in satisfying and unexpected ways. The liquid pleasures, like summer cocktails, wine, beer, soda, liquor, tea and coffee, will available all over the festival. Those who want to give their legs a rest an recharge their bodies, can enjoy cuisine from all over the world. From bite size snacks to full fledged meals, all presented in a wonderful way.

Dance Valley has always been a grab bag filled with special surprises and something for everyone. At the end of every crooked path and behind every hill a new surprise will be waiting for you. Creativity is a vital element for the total festival experience. Dance Valley is a place where reality seamlessly flows into fantasy.
