Where To Stay

If you are coming to Detroit for Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF), you definitely want to stay close to the festival. Here are five good hotel options to consider:

The Detroit Marriott

The location of the Marriott is right next to Hart Plaza, which is where the festival takes place. The hotel itself is an iconic building and sits right next to the river. link

Courtyard Detroit Downtown

This Courtyard hotel, which is part of the Marriott chain of hotels, is also located right next to Hart Plaza. It might not be up to par with the Detroit Marriott but it is still a nice hotel. link

The Leland

For the festival-goer on a budget, The Leland is a great choice and is walking distance to Hart Plaza. link

Holiday In Express

Holiday Inn Express is located just up the street from Hart Plaza. For DEMF visitors looking for a standard budget hotel, this is also a solid option. link

The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit

The Westin is one of the top hotels in Detroit. This is for the festival traveler who really want to splurge. link

Who To See

Although it is really hard to choose specific acts to see from the amazing lineup of artists, I have managed to pick out five that you shouldn't miss:
1. Fatboy Slim - A pioneer in electronic music and one of the first dance acts that I got into:

2. BeardyMan - Human beatbox champion who rarely comes to the US.

3. Sven Vath - Papa Sven throws the top weekly techno party in Ibiza - Cocoon. He has not played in the US since 2007 so here is your chance to see him.

4. Paul Kalkbrenner - Big live act with lots of video and effects.

5. Little Dragon - Swedish electronic/indie act that should provide a interesting change from the other acts.
