Amnesia is one of the largest and oldest clubs on Ibiza. 5000 people can fit inside any given night. It has been voted best global club by IDMA multiple times (2007, 2008, 2009, 2011) and it originally opened back in the 70s.
The club features two rooms; the main room and the terrace. The terrace was originally outdoors but had to close the roof in the late 90s because of noise complaints from the neighbors. The main room is a traditional square room with a second level balcony overlooking the main dance floor. The cryo or ice cannons are a famous feature in the main room blasting cool air at regular intervals making clubbers scramble for their sunglasses on the dancefloor.
Expect top DJs to man the decks almost every night with an amazing sound system. Depending on the night, you might hear any kind of electronic dance music. The club generally goes to 5 AM. On big nights it is not unusual for them to go to noon the next day.
Amnesia has free shuttles to get to the club from Playa den bossa and there are also disco buses that will take you to the club. A taxi ride cost between 10 and 15 dollars from either San Antonio, Ibiza Town, or Playa d’en Bossa. The bigger nights such as Cocoon or Cream will cost up towards 40 euro while the other nights might be 10-20 euros. Drinks are very expensive as most places on Ibiza. Expect to pay around 15 euros for a drink or water bottle.
Nights/Parties
Each promotor will bring a different sound and atmosphere to Amnesia. Here are the various promotions for Amnesia for 2011:
Mondays: Cocoon
This year is the 12th year for Cocoon at Amnesia. This is one of the top nights for Amnesia and expect it to be packed every Monday all summer. Music will consist of Techno, Tech-House, Minimal, and Deep House. Cocoon residents and guests for this year include Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, and many more. The opening party is scheduled for June 13th.
Tuesday: Tonight
New night at Amnesia for 2011. A mixed lineup, including Eric Prydz, Annie Mac, Chase & Status, Skrillex, Tiga, Adam Beyer, Diplo, and A-Trak, will provide a mix of prog house, drum & bass, dubstep, electro, and techno should bring a variety of sound depending who is playing.

Wednesday: La Troya
This is the world’s biggest gay club night. La Troya does not usually bring in expensive DJs but focus on top notch production with elaborate customes and many go go dancers. This night ends in a Foam Party so don’t wear your most expensive clothes.
Thursday: Cream
One of the biggest name in Electronic Music for the last 25 years, Cream is still one of the top nights in Ibiza. The main room will feature trance while the terrace will feature house. The trance acts for 2011 will include Paul Van Dyk, Eddie Halliwell, Above & Beyond, Sander Van Doorn, John O’Callaghan, and Ferry Corsten. The house acts include Laidback Luke, AN21, Calvin Harris, and Chris Lake.

Friday: I want my MTV Ibiza
New night for Amnesia 2011. This promotion promises big visual and audio production with a wide range of guests including Duran Duran, Richie Hawtin, 2 Many DJs, and Mark Ronson.

Saturday: Matinee
This Barcelona based production caters mostly to a Spanish gay crowd. Similar to La Troya they have big production but not big international DJs.
Sunday: Popstars
This night will house and electro anthems in the main room while more undergound beats on the terrace. Lots of competition on the island on Sunday so cheap or free tickets should be available regularly.
